I cannot believe that Merrik just turned 7 !  Wow where did the time go, someone please tell me …. With our schedules it is really a bit of a contortion act to plan Merriks birthday party on a day that works for Mark to attend.  We have always some how been able to manage it until this year   This was the first birthday that Mark had to miss .

Although my child’s birthday is technically in Spring it was nowhere near feeling like Spring !  Unless you consider 98 degrees with 40% humidity Spring like .  Heat aside the girls had a blast .

A day or so before the party we were chatting with a fellow photographer about the big “Merrik in Wonderland” party that was approaching .  He asked how in the world I was going to decorate for the party , run the party , be mom , manage 18 7 year old’s and shoot it . He suggested that I call in some favors perhaps so I didn’t have to worry about being the photographer for the day.  Of course me being completely insane , I thought I could handle it !  Who was I kidding ….. I completely went into mommy mode and completely forgot every technical thing I know and went into snapshot mode . So that night after the party while going through the images I must have thought of at least a dozen things that as a photographer I would have never missed , but as mom were the last things I thought of.

So all that to say , I can’t do it all …. there I said it .  For those of you who know me you know what a major statement that was !  Next year either we plan it around Mark Eric’s schedule or I hire a photographer .  To my fellow photographers who manage to pull it off for your kids birthdays all alone  , you rock  .

A great big fat shout out to my lil sis Halette for enduring the heat to help me decorate , my dad for grilling in Mark’s place .  Last but most definitely not least to my AMAZING friends/neighbors Candace and Stephanie you guys are such a blessing and I would have never survived the day with out all of your help …Love all of you to pieces

Just wanted to share a shot from my session with this past week !  She was so much fun to photograph . The only problem now is going to pic which shots to work on because she gave me so many great ones !

Okay so it is no secret that I am terrible at keeping up my blog   It is rare these days that I even have time to shoot for myself instead of Mark , not complaining ….just stating the facts. My life is pretty much consumed with Merrik , Mark and Mark Eric Photography.  All that now being said , I recently took some time to play for me .

I had such a blast shooting Ryland recently , what a riot he was !  Between the trains , the bugs and the occasional need to show me his big boy briefs it was pretty eventful .  I had the easy job , while his mom  (pregnant with twins )  chased after him !  He is pretty much as cute as it gets so what more could I ask for .

Sorry it has taken me so long to release this , but here it is… I am finally accepting bookings for Senior Girls !  Go ahead do the happy dance you know you want to. E-mail me through the contact form if you are interested in getting a spot in front of my camera.  Can’t wait … Heather
